1st Meeting in Scotland

Been working for 1 year already (started on 23/7/2008), and still counting. Although the company I’m working with is not very big ,approx 40-50 employees, I think can be classified as medium size company.

I am very pleased that I involved in numerous of projects. Ranging from small scale 18 tridents to 474 Towers, from 33kV to 400kV, from Scotland to Hong Kong, from projects budget of 20 grand to 20 millions pounds, from 8 to 5-ish.

With some guidance from my senior, I’m able to handle one small scaled size project alone. a mini-Leap of my career :p. After completing the works that we tendered for, my boss invited me to head up there to Scotland for a meeting.

Frankly, I’m not nervous, maybe I treated it as if a job interview or something. I need to answer those technical questions asked from the client (but its been well defense from my boss). It went quite well, my boss think, I think I have hell lots more to learn….darn. I don’t even know what they are talking about through the entire meeting.

london-driffird

So, my journey departs on Sunday, 1pm from my office. It takes around 4 hours to reach Little Driffield, where the main branch is. Stayed there for a night and continue another 4 hours to Scotland the next day to Bellshill where the meeting held.

A total of ridiculous 16hours in the car with my boss. Yes, it is darn hard. Because my boss drove us with this

No, it’s this. sorry

IMG_2732My boss’s 3.5l V6 Merc

I think a Maybach 62 will make the journey slightly more comfortable.

4 days 3 nights in 2 different hotels. My boss got me this Gothic decorated room.

I don’t really like staying in a hotel room by myself with a double bed. I don’t really feel safe after watching Vacancy. I tend to be very conscious with sound in the mid-night. The next night, we’ll be staying in a castle converted hotel! Sounds very good to me. I slept quite soundly - thanks for the booze with clients in dinner.

Michael Jackson week

I know this news is gonna last for weeks and it does. It is as if another couple of planes struck on America’s skyscrapers – 9/11. I am not an extreme fan of Michael Jackson – King of Pop.

I’ve watched Living with Michael Jackson (2003) done by a high profile journalist, Martin Bashir. He did one with Princess Diana after broke up with Prince Charles. Unfortunately, the footage of the interview with Michael had been edited and narrated, facts are twisted before it was broadcasted in ITV. This made Michael regrets. There’s an unedited version captured by Michael Jackson’s own camera during the interview lucky. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xvhwWDCV9Bo&feature=related (1 of 9)

It is learnt that media is not fair to him at all. I used to believe what medias speak and write about him. I used to believe Michael Jackson did a plastic surgery that completely changes his face. I used to believe he bleaches his skin to be a white and hates to be black. I used to believe he had had sexually abused children in his bedroom, naively. I used to believe his ex-wife, Debbie Rowe just wants his money, fathered Michael with Prince and Paris and divorce him. I used to believe is his opinion to mask or use veil cover their children from media.

michael-jackson-000000

I was mislead by media until his close friends and his ex-wife broke their silence. His Neverland Ranch is built for the sick children. Michael wants to find back his childhood that he lost since 5 years old. He used to go studio and/or performing in concert until wee hours. He hid himself and cried when he saw children playing cricket in a playground opposite his recording studio. Medias just don’t allow him to retrieve what he has lost. Accuse him with sexually abuse child.

Michael-Jackson-p01

His skin becomes white. Everyone thinks he wants to be white until he told the public he suffer with skin disease, vitiligo which depigment his skin. He’s proud to be a black American. One of the reason he likes children because they are innocent and pure. Medias try to sabotage them. Tells them to stay away from Michael, ruin his life again and again. So that they have more things to write, more news to twist and more lies to the public. He was set for a 50 concerts in O2 arena (a record breaking) – which now only remains as a dream. He’s 50 years old, he actually wanted only 10. I love his songs and they are still nice to listen even in 21st century.

thriller-michael-jackson

In the peak of his career, he has won 13 Grammy awards with his Thriller album with over 100million copies sold (and still counting), no one till date ever achieve that. Michael and Janet did the most expensive music video of all time – Scream. There’s a survey found he is the most famous person on earth.

Any more info you can google it yourself.

One of his home made documentary, shows the footage that you might never seen before. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IhK1cKBut_o (1of 11)

Micheal shows he's a good daddy

He’s a very gifted performer, entertainer, musician and singer. A genius in music. He has lots of remarkable trademark, such as one glove, white socks, moonwalk..etc. He often sings out his feeling with a very high pitch ..OWWWW!! ….a poor man couldn’t live with a normal life that you and I have.

Lucky days

I have been lucky past few days and hope to continue as long as possible. Yea, I know , everyone's greedy.

Today I went to Croydon to watch Transformer : Revenge of the Fallen (just launched yesterday), and found out that my monthly train pass has expired yesterday (19/6/2009)! I wanted to buy ticket but the ticket counter wasn’t open. Oh dear. But before I queue for the ticket machine, there’s this guy approached me and handed me FREE return ticket. I was stunned when someone approach me and hand me stuff. Unconsciously my hand will grab the ticket. I still stunned. I thanked him. I felt guilty not thanking him enough. Not to mention I picked money from floor 2 days consecutively from the ground when I’m going to work. Haha.

Everyday I spend a couple of hours reading on some photography forum. I thought of expand the horizon of my photography skills. Therefore I read a lot on modeling photography more than landscape nowadays. Photographing human/modeling is much harder than photographing landscape. As landscape is kinda ‘dead’ but human you need to stress your creativity. I bump into a topic that full of mentors. I located one of the mentor who lives in London and therefore contacted him. We have been bouncing emails and the most important part is that I’m allowed to assist him in modeling photographing for FREE – means he doesn't charge for teaching. It’s a bit hassle to get to his place as no direct train available. Should I go or should I not?

Good enough of luck! haha

Swansea that I love

I had forced myself today to write. Not very interesting is happening and nothing special happened. Just having some normal routine.

IMG_4203

Last week (5th –7th/June/2009) I was once appear in Swansea. Being so long didn’t visit Swansea, nothing has change, but many stores closed down and businesses gone burst. Swansea, still the second largest city in Wales (lolz).

Although it has shrink a little, but it still never fails to give me a warm feeling coming back for a visit. A journey that cost me about 6-7 hours (each way) and £30 is worth it for catching up with my friends and be relax. More importantly, to have a warm feeling.

In Swansea, every year you gain some less new friends and lose some of the old friend, not really lose, but kind of like lose, as in they graduate then go back to their home country respectively. So, yes, it is a bit of sad.

IMG_2411

Anyway, the weather wasn’t welcoming me at all. It rained whole day, not surprise for UK weather. So my initial plan of taking pictures of Mumbles, Swansea eventually scrapped. But, there’s a plan suggested. I have done something sinful in my life.

IMG_2415

Yes, installed and played Dota in Swansea University LIBRARY. Obviously, I’m no longer a student, my account to logon to the university has expired. Therefore, I borrowed. I have not touch Dota since I came to Swansea University. I have not fully utilize the facility provided by Library despite paying an £8800 tuition fees all these years!

And guess who’s driving?!

Peak of the Pyramid

Budget 2009 announced in the United Kingdom and I think Alistair Darling (UK Chancellor) is trying to be Peterpan – a hero whom steal from the rich and give it to the poor. A 50% tax imposed for those who earn more than £150,000 per annum -  a far from my dream.

alistair darling

It is known that there are 60million people in the UK and this 50% tax only applies to 390,000 people. Alistair said “ those which broader shoulder carry more burden”

I start to ask myself “what are the difference between those bastards and me?” – a broader shoulder . 56 inches.

So, I head to London to seek out how broad their shoulders are and plan to take picture with them

At the end of the day. I came back in vain. What I obtained whole day is hundred of pictures and that only 7 stands head and shoulder above the others, which you have just seen it.

The morale of the story is ……

STOP YAWNING!! Go to wash your face …

Easter Break

A long waited break after few months of continuous work for non-stop. Finally I am able to take time off and plan for a short break. Although it was a rush plan, but I think there’s no room for error involve, because I’m going with 2 experienced backpackers and it’s in UK.

Book a room for 3 in Plymouth for Cornwall trip. At this long weekend break, Cornwall will be invaded by tourist.

cornwall

We managed to visit those places circled there –  Penzence, Tingatel and Whisthy Bay (right next to Land’s End).

IMG_1277_8_9 HDROur guest house is just right next to this ‘The Sound’ and the Barbican. The house keeper said that when everyone is there, they’ll never missed out ‘The Sound’. In fact I found out there’s nothing more than one Lighthouse and a breakwater. I think Swansea is nicer.

IMG_1284_5_6_HDR Nothing interest me more than tried out my first HDR (High Dynamic Range) shot.

IMG_1265 copy and silhouettes shots.

We then headed to Cornwall the next morning after the breakfast. Being told on the way to Cornwall be surprise to see windfarm! Without much imagination, I thought of this

346022506_c5f11e9563_oBut in fact…..

IMG_1349HDR  is this…

Some not so pretty view  I got from Cornwall. Cornwall is extremely highly rated by Britons a place for relaxing and camping. They should visit Wales and the mindset of Cornwall is the Best will change immediately.

IMG_1451 copyTried to slow the shutter speed and zoom in to make this valley looks like a waterfall.

IMG_1500 copy copy I love the sky. Blue and White always match the best and is my favorite.

IMG_1488 copy Dawn and dusk always the best for scenery.

It was a short trip. I am slightly regret of why spend money on a so highly rated place which actually look not any better than Wales. Wales has plenty of sheep (more populated than human), cliffs, national park, waterfalls….etc. More importantly, it is cheap. You able to live an apartment facing the sea for a fraction of London’s smallest room. You get the same view like Monaco.

Do your research.

I’m kinda sick and tired to tell the same story over and over again. Hope this is the last time I'll ever repeat.

Firstly, I hope you know that working in United Kingdom is not as glamour as you think. It does not guarantee you to be a millionaire or starve you to death. I am only working as a Graduate Design Engineer for Transmission company. If you have no idea what my work relate to, go watch Ultraman. He uses it as a weapon – pylon.

ultraman5

Many friends in KL expecting my salary is sky high. As if the 4 digit numbers appear on my pay slip is the 4 numbers which exactly match in the newspapers lottery section. In other words, I strike a lottery every month. Do grocery in Harrods, Knightsbridge. Buy clothes in Primark Burberry.

IMG_6513

Always being asked how much do I earn? Frankly, you are starting to piss me off. Make use of the greatest tool ever invented in the century for god’s sake– I-N-T-E-R-N-E-T. You might not get exactly get to know the correct answer on.

untitled

Don’t be stupid, you can do a lot research. Search for graduate’s pay, income tax, rental, council tax, public transport cost, grocery. You know how much roughly I earn and how much roughly I spend every month, in no time! I don’t get 4 figures at end of each month and after spending and I left over 6 figures to save.

It’s only 9 months since I started work in this company. Some say that I can afford and own a detached house of RM 5million…=.=" .Donate your brain to those mat-rempit, they need it more than you do.

Because the rest of the money goes to:

  1. someone’s pocket
